Having graduated with a degree in Hospitality Management, Maureen had a clear ambition—not only to work in a five-star hotel but also to build a career aboard a cruise ship.
For Maureen, the maritime sector offers opportunities for graduates from diverse career backgrounds. This belief motivated her to enroll for the STCW Basic Safety Training course at Bandari Maritime Academy (BMA).
“It doesn’t matter what career you have; there are opportunities for everyone at sea,” Maureen said.
She describes the STCW Basic Safety Training course as essential for anyone working at sea or aspiring to pursue a career in the maritime sector.
According to her, the training and knowledge gained through the course have brought her closer to achieving her dream of becoming a seafarer.
She is encouraging other young people to consider maritime training and explore the career opportunities available at sea.
“STCW Basic Safety Training is mandatory for those who want to pursue a career at sea. If you have it, you can get an opportunity to work there.” she said.
Maureen is among a group of young people who have undertaken STCW Basic Safety Training at Bandari Maritime Academy as they prepare to pursue careers in the maritime industry and turn their dreams of working at sea into reality.
