Bandari Maritime Academy (BMA) Chief Executive Officer Dr. Eric Katana today received modern training and ICT equipment provided under the Kenya Blue Economy Skills Training (KBEST) Project.
The equipment support is part of a partnership between Colleges and Institutes Canada (CICan) and Global Affairs Canada to strengthen maritime education and training at BMA through curriculum development, institutional capacity building, and the provision of modern training resources.
Dr. Katana commended CICan and Global Affairs Canada for their continued partnership and support towards strengthening Kenya’s maritime education and training sector.
“We appreciate the support from our partners, CICan and Global Affairs Canada, in ensuring that the Academy is well equipped to fulfil its mandate of developing maritime professionals who will contribute to the exploration and sustainable development of the Blue Economy,” Dr. Katana said.
The equipment, which includes a smart LED TV, projector, computers, web-conferencing equipment, and other ICT accessories, will enhance classroom presentations, digital content delivery, practical demonstrations, virtual engagement, and collaborative learning.
The support will further strengthen BMA’s capacity to provide modern, industry-responsive maritime training and equip learners with the skills required to contribute effectively to Kenya’s sustainable Blue Economy.
