BMA Bids Farewell to Outgoing Guard of Honour

Bandari Maritime Academy (BMA) has bid farewell to members of its outgoing Guard of Honour as the Academy formally handed over ceremonial responsibilities to a new team.

The ceremony, presided over by BMA Chief Executive Officer Dr. Eric Katana, provided an opportunity to celebrate the outgoing team’s service, discipline, sacrifice and institutional pride over the years.
Dr. Katana commended the Guard of Honour for its dedicated service and for representing the Academy with confidence, coordination and pride.

“You responded with confidence whenever called upon and consistently represented the Academy with confidence, coordination and pride. Through your performance and conduct, you have contributed to the image and identity of Bandari Maritime Academy,” Dr. Katana said.

The CEO noted that BMA had greatly benefited from the team’s dedication and commitment, adding that their contributions would remain an important part of the Academy’s history.

He challenged the incoming Guard of Honour to uphold and surpass the standards set by their predecessors.

“You are not merely taking over uniforms and ceremonial responsibilities; you are inheriting an important legacy. I challenge you to protect the reputation established by those who served before you,” Dr. Katana said.

BMA Deputy Director Registrar, Dr. Irene Mugo, also commended the outgoing Guard of Honour for its professionalism and urged members to continue serving as ambassadors of the Academy.

The ceremony marked a new chapter for the BMA Guard of Honour, while recognizing the dedication, discipline and service of the outgoing team.
