The Newly Crowned Miss Bandari Maritime Academy, Tashia Kerubo, has emphasized to students the importance of upholding the academy’s values — discipline, integrity, and excellence — which she described as the guiding anchors for every student.
“This crown is not just for me,” she said, “it represents the spirit of our academy. I will dedicate my reign to ensuring our values remain strong and visible in all we do.”

Beyond tradition, Tashia has unveiled a forward-looking initiative: the launch of a Mental Health Awareness Club. She highlighted the need for students to have a safe space to discuss challenges, support one another, and promote well-being.
“Mental health is the compass that keeps us steady,” she explained. “Through this club, we will create a harbor of hope where no student feels alone in their journey.”
Further, Kerubo noted that crew members on board sometimes suffer mental health issues because of the mixed culture they encounter and the fact that they stay away from loved ones for a longer period, thus the need for proper counseling.
The initiative promises to foster resilience, empathy, and community spirit — qualities essential for future leaders in the maritime industry.

With her crown, Tashi Karubo has become more than a symbol of beauty; she is a beacon of advocacy, steering Bandari Maritime Academy toward a future where values and wellbeing sail side by side.
Kerubo was crowned on Friday night during the cultural gala after facing stiff competition from ten contenders.
