Newly admitted cadets at Bandari Maritime Academy (BMA) have officially taken their Oath of Allegiance during a colorful mini pass-out parade, marking the successful completion of their regimental training.
Regimental training is a structured paramilitary-style induction programme designed to instill discipline, teamwork, physical fitness, resilience and leadership among cadets.
Trainers from Bandari Maritime Academy conducted the one-week training in close collaboration with the Kenya Coast Guard Service.Addressing the cadets on behalf of BMA Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Eric Katana, Deputy Director, Registrar, Dr. Irene Mugo, noted that regimental training is essential in preparing cadets for a profession that demands discipline, commitment and dedication.
Dr. Mugo urged the cadets to carry forward the values and lessons they had gained during the training throughout their academic journey at the Academy.
“The discipline you have acquired should help you meet the demands of your academic journey at the Academy, including attending classes diligently and protecting the Academy’s property,” Dr. Mugo said.
Senior Principal Trainer I in Nautical Science, Retired Major Franklyne Toniok, stressed the importance of time management and punctuality.
He also urged the cadets to conduct themselves in a manner that upholds and elevates the name of Bandari Maritime Academy and the maritime profession.The mini pass-out parade marked an important milestone for the newly admitted cadets as they transitioned from regimental training to their academic programmes at the Academy.
