Bandari Maritime Academy has reaffirmed its commitment to equipping trainees with practical, industry-relevant skills through experiential learning, a key pillar of its mandate in maritime and port-related training.
In line with this objective, 28 forklift trainees today undertook an academic and industrial tour to United (EA) Warehouses Ltd located in the Shimanzi area of Mombasa. The visit provided a valuable opportunity for the trainees to gain firsthand exposure to real-world warehouse operations and logistics processes.

During the tour, BMA Senior Port Equipment Trainer Loth Komora guided the trainees through the comprehensive workflow of warehouse management. He elaborated on key procedures including cargo receiving, documentation and recording, storage systems, inventory management and the eventual dispatch and release of goods.
Komora further emphasized the critical importance of safety within warehouse environments, outlining essential precautions and operational standards required of forklift operators to ensure efficiency while minimizing risks.
The trainees had an opportunity get insights of operating an electronic Forklift and a gas-powered Forklift.

The trainees were warmly received by United (EA) Warehouses Ltd General Manager Edward Akwesa, who welcomed the initiative and underscored the importance of industry-academia collaboration in nurturing competent professionals for the maritime and logistics sectors.
The tour was seamlessly coordinated by Warehouse Supervisor Benson Mwandoto and Security Officer John Lokoda, whose support ensured a structured and informative experience for the trainees.
