Bandari Maritime Academy (BMA) has intensified its youth mobilisation campaign in Bamburi Ward, Mombasa County, as part of ongoing efforts to encourage more young people to enrol in maritime training programmes and take advantage of the growing opportunities within the Blue Economy.
The outreach campaign forms part of the Academy’s broader strategy to raise awareness of career prospects in the maritime sector while equipping young people with industry-relevant skills that enhance their employability both locally and internationally.
Speaking during the sensitisation exercise, BMA Customer Care Services Officer Gertrude Chao urged the youth to seize the opportunity to pursue maritime training, noting that the Blue Economy continues to generate demand for a highly skilled workforce across shipping, logistics, port operations, offshore industries and other maritime-related sectors.
“The maritime industry presents enormous career opportunities for young people. By acquiring the right skills and internationally recognised certifications at Bandari Maritime Academy, you can build rewarding careers not only in Kenya but also in the global maritime industry,” she said.
Participants were taken through the Academy’s academic and professional programmes, admission requirements, career pathways and practical training opportunities designed to prepare graduates for the dynamic demands of the maritime industry.
The exercise attracted enthusiastic participation from youths, many of whom expressed keen interest in enrolling for various maritime courses offered by the Academy.
The sensitisation campaign reached youths from Kashani, Florida, Mdegerekeni, Ugatuzi, Kimbunga and Mzalendo villages, reaffirming the Academy’s commitment to ensuring that communities are well informed about the opportunities available in the maritime sector.
Bandari Maritime Academy remains committed to supporting the Government’s Blue Economy agenda by developing a competent and globally competitive maritime workforce through quality education, practical skills training and sustained community outreach.
Through such initiatives, the Academy continues to inspire more young people to embrace maritime careers and contribute to the sustainable growth of Kenya’s Blue Economy.
