Bandari Maritime Academy has taken a significant step towards strengthening strategic academic and training partnerships following the inaugural implementation meeting of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Technical University of Mombasa (TUM), signed in 2025.
BMA team was led by Senior Deputy Director, Maritime Transport and Port Operations, Enock Okemwa and brought together representatives from both institutions to chart the way forward on the operationalization of the partnership.

Deliberations focused on the joint utilization and sharing of specialized training facilities to enhance the quality and scope of maritime education and technical training. Key facilities highlighted included the Full Mission Bridge Simulator, Engineering Room Simulator, Electro-Technical Laboratory, as well as Marine, Mechanical and Engineering Workshops. The discussions also explored collaboration in Fire Fighting training facilities and the use of the swimming pool for Basic Safety Training (BST), among other areas of mutual interest.
The partnership is expected to foster capacity building, promote knowledge exchange and optimize the use of existing infrastructure to deliver industry-relevant skills. It further aligns with the national agenda of strengthening maritime education and supporting the growth of the Blue Economy through collaborative training and research initiatives.
