The strong collaboration between Bandari Maritime Academy (BMA) and the Kenya Maritime Authority (KMA) continues to grow, with both institutions reaffirming their commitment to strengthening Kenya’s maritime education, training and regulatory framework.
The partnership was highlighted during the ongoing Mombasa International ASK Show, where BMA officials had the opportunity to host the Kenya Maritime Authority Director General, CPA Justus Omae Nyarandi, at the Academy’s exhibition booth at Mkomani Grounds, Mombasa.
During the visit, CPA Justus Omae Nyarandi was taken through the Academy’s programmes, maritime training initiatives and efforts to develop competent and highly skilled maritime professionals to support Kenya’s growing Blue Economy and shipping industry.
The visit provided an opportunity for the two institutions to exchange ideas on areas of mutual interest, particularly in maritime education and training, skills development, seafarer competency, industry collaboration and the promotion of Kenya’s maritime potential.
In his remarks BMA Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Eric Katana, welcomed the continued partnership with KMA, noting that strong collaboration among key maritime sector institutions is critical to developing a competitive and sustainable maritime industry.
Dr. Katana emphasized the importance of aligning maritime education and training with industry needs and regulatory requirements to ensure that graduates and seafarers are equipped with the skills, knowledge and competencies required both locally and internationally.
The Kenya Maritime Authority plays a critical role in regulating, coordinating and overseeing Kenya’s maritime affairs, while Bandari Maritime Academy remains committed to providing quality maritime education and training and developing competent maritime human resources.
The engagement at the Mombasa International ASK Show underscores the shared commitment of BMA and KMA to advancing Kenya’s maritime sector and unlocking opportunities within the Blue Economy.
