Bandari Maritime Academy (BMA) is exploring opportunities to strengthen collaboration with the Dock Workers Union to enhance training and skills development for dock workers, in line with the evolving demands of the maritime and port industry.

BMA Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Eric Katana, hosted Dock Workers Union Chairman Gunda Kaneno during a courtesy call at the Academy, where they held discussions on matters of mutual interest, with a focus on dock workers’ training and professional development.
The engagement provided an opportunity to explore areas of common interest in advancing relevant skills, strengthening workforce capacity and supporting the development of a competent workforce to meet the needs of Kenya’s maritime sector.
Through strategic partnerships with industry stakeholders, BMA continues to champion quality maritime education and training, equipping learners and industry professionals with the knowledge and practical skills required to contribute to the growth of the maritime and Blue Economy sectors.

The engagement underscores the importance of collaboration between training institutions and industry players in building a skilled, competitive and future-ready maritime workforce.
