Maritime Transport and Logistics students at Bandari Maritime Academy (BMA) have presented and defended their proposed research topics as part of their academic learning and professional development.

The exercise provided an opportunity for the students to demonstrate their understanding of key issues affecting port operations, cargo handling, digitalization and operational efficiency at the Port of Mombasa.
The panel was led by BMA Senior Deputy Director, Maritime Transport and Port Operations Training, Enock Okemwa, alongside Maritime Transport and Logistics trainers Tumaini Mamoya and Victor Okello.
The proposed research topics addressed critical areas within the maritime and logistics sector, including the effect of the M-Pesa payment system on cargo delivery efficiency, the impact of Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) operations on port efficiency, occupational safety and health practices in the handling of dangerous goods, and the role of digital customs clearance in streamlining import cargo processing.

The exercise is an important step in equipping students with research, analytical and problem-solving skills, enabling them to better understand industry challenges and contribute to improved efficiency and service delivery in the maritime and port sectors.
