One week into his forklift training at Bandari Maritime Academy (BMA), Ismael Salano from Vihiga County is already demonstrating confidence in operating a forklift, a milestone he attributes to the Academy’s practical-oriented training approach.
Salano, who joined the training programme with a long-held dream of becoming a forklift operator, says the hands-on lessons have enabled him to quickly acquire essential operational skills that are highly sought after in the logistics and transport sector.
As the training enters its second week, he is already proficient in fundamental forklift operations, including forward and reverse driving, side maneuvering, and lifting and handling loads safely.
For Salano, enrolling at BMA was a carefully considered decision. Having followed the Academy’s social media platforms for some time, he became interested in the forklift programme and later visited the institution to obtain more information before signing up.
“I follow BMA’s social media platforms and after gathering information about the course, I visited the Academy to get first-hand information,” he said.
He described the training experience as exceptional, noting that the practical-based mode of instruction has accelerated his learning and boosted his confidence in handling forklift operations within a short period.
Salano’s journey reflects the impact of BMA’s commitment to skills-based training that equips learners with industry-relevant competencies and prepares them for employment opportunities in logistics, maritime transport, and related sectors.
