Bandari Maritime Academy (BMA) today hosted the Director General of the LAPSSET Corridor Development Authority, Stephen Ikua, during a courtesy call at the Academy aimed at deepening collaboration between the two institutions.
The meeting, led by BMA Chief Executive Officer Dr. Eric Katana, focused on exploring strategic partnerships in maritime education, training, and skills development to support Kenya’s growing blue economy and infrastructure ambitions.

Discussions centred on aligning BMA’s training programs with the emerging opportunities under the LAPSSET Corridor, particularly in shipping, port operations, logistics, and maritime services. Both leaders underscored the importance of building a highly skilled workforce to support large-scale projects and enhance Kenya’s competitiveness in regional and global trade.
Speaking during the engagement, Dr. Katana reaffirmed the Academy’s commitment to providing industry-relevant training that meets the evolving needs of the maritime sector. He noted that collaboration with key stakeholders such as LAPSSET is critical in ensuring that graduates are well-equipped with practical skills and competencies.
