Bandari Maritime Academy (BMA) is set to host the Kenya Libraries and Information Services Consortium (KLISC) 2027 Annual General Meeting and Workshop, reaffirming its growing reputation as a premier centre for academic, professional and conference excellence within the region.
In preparation for this major event, the Academy today hosted a delegation from KLISC, comprising members of the Conference and Organizing Committee, who paid a courtesy and familiarization visit to assess the institution’s readiness ahead of the May 2027 Annual General Meeting and Workshop.

Representing the Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Eric Katana, Senior Deputy Director and Academy Registrar, Dr. Irene Mugo, alongside Senior Deputy Director Evans Oyieyo, officially received and welcomed the delegation.
The team was taken through a comprehensive tour of the Academy’s conference facilities, training infrastructure and accommodation amenities.
Dr. Mugo noted that hosting the KLISC AGM and Workshop presents a valuable opportunity for Bandari Maritime Academy to strengthen strategic partnerships with key stakeholders in academia and information services.
“This partnership underscores the Academy’s commitment to supporting knowledge exchange, research collaboration and professional development. We are proud to provide a conducive environment that will facilitate meaningful engagement among participants,” Dr. Mugo said.
Oyieyo emphasized the Academy’s preparedness to deliver a seamless and impactful event, highlighting the institution’s modern facilities and its capacity to host large-scale conferences.

“Our infrastructure, combined with our experienced team, positions us well to host an event of this magnitude. We look forward to delivering a memorable experience for all delegates,” Evans stated.
KLISC Conference and Organizing Committee Chairman, Prof. Paul Gichohi, expressed confidence in the Academy’s ability to successfully host the event, commending the quality of facilities and the warm reception accorded to the delegation.
The KLISC Annual General Meeting and Workshop is a key event that brings together librarians, information professionals, researchers, international partners and academic institutions to discuss emerging trends, innovations and collaborative opportunities in the field of information and knowledge management.

Hosting the 2027 edition further positions Bandari Maritime Academy as a centre of excellence not only in maritime education and training, but also as a preferred destination for conferences and professional engagements in the region.
