Bandari Maritime Academy (BMA) today hosted Mombasa County Woman Representative, Hon.Zam Zam Mohammed, at its booth during the ongoing 11th Our Ocean Conference 2026 at PrideInn Paradise Beach Resort.
The visit reaffirmed the growing collaboration between Bandari Maritime Academy and national leaders in advancing maritime education and creating pathways for young people to access opportunities within the Blue Economy.

During her visit, the legislature lauded BMA for its critical role in developing a skilled maritime workforce and empowering youth through quality training programmes. She noted that the maritime sector continues to offer immense career opportunities and encouraged more young people to embrace maritime education as a pathway to employment and economic empowerment.
“Bandari Maritime Academy is playing a critical role in preparing our youth for the vast opportunities available in the maritime sector. As leaders, we must support efforts that equip young people with relevant skills and open pathways to meaningful careers. I am committed to working with BMA to encourage more youth to enroll in maritime courses and take advantage of the growing opportunities within the Blue Economy,” said Hon. Mohammed.
The Woman Representative further pledged her support towards initiatives aimed at mobilizing and sensitizing youth to enroll in maritime courses, emphasizing the need to prepare the next generation to take advantage of emerging opportunities in the maritime industry.
Her visit to the BMA booth attracted significant interest from conference participants and highlighted the importance of partnerships in promoting maritime awareness and skills development among Kenyan youth.
