Bandari Maritime Academy has secured the renewal of its license as a qualification awarding body, reaffirming its mandate to train, assess and certify maritime professionals in line with national and international standards.

The renewed certification was formally received by the Academy’s Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Eric Katana, who described the milestone as a strong vote of confidence in the Academy’s quality assurance systems and training frameworks.
“This renewal underscores our continued commitment to delivering world-class maritime education and ensuring that our graduates are globally competitive,” Dr. Katana said.
Also present during the handover was Senior Deputy Director of Corporate Services, Evans Oyieyo, whom highlighted the rigorous evaluation process involved in maintaining the awarding body status.
BMA Assistant Director for Quality Assurance, Michael Njogah, noted that the renewal reflects the Academy’s adherence to regulatory requirements, continuous improvement in curriculum delivery and commitment to upholding high standards in maritime training and certification.

As a licensed qualification awarding body, Bandari Maritime Academy plays a critical role in Kenya’s maritime sector by equipping learners with industry-relevant skills and issuing recognized certifications that enhance employability both locally and internationally.
