Bandari Maritime Academy Launches “The Voyage Project” to Nurture Student Talent and Empower Youth

Bandari Maritime Academy (BMA) today launched “The Voyage Project”, an innovative youth empowerment and talent development initiative aimed at equipping students with essential life skills and creating a platform for creativity and mentorship.

The launch was presided over by Dr. Eric Katana, the Chief Executive Officer of Bandari Maritime Academy, who was accompanied by Ali Mazrui, Director at the National Authority for the Campaign Against Alcohol and Drug Abuse (NACADA).

In his address, Dr. Katana lauded the project as a transformative step towards holistic education, noting that the Academy is not only committed to producing competent Maritime professionals but also well-rounded individuals ready to make positive contributions to society.

He emphasized the importance of empowering young people to become agents of change and responsible citizens.

Director Mazrui commended the Academy for its proactive approach in fostering responsible behavior and offering students meaningful alternatives to drug and substance abuse.

He reaffirmed NACADA’s commitment to partnering with learning institutions in promoting awareness and youth development initiatives.

Dr. Irene Mugo, the Academy’s Registrar, underscored the role of mentorship and student engagement in achieving academic and personal excellence.

She expressed confidence that The Voyage Project will play a key role in guiding students toward purpose-driven growth.

Vincent Kagechu, Chairman of the Bandari Maritime Academy Students Association (BMASA), appreciated the Academy’s support in nurturing student talent through various clubs and activities. He highlighted that such platforms enable students to explore their potential, build confidence, and prepare for leadership roles in the Maritime industry and beyond.
