Bandari Maritime Academy has officially launched its new institutional bus in a ceremony held at the Academy in Mombasa. The event was presided over by the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Eng. Lung’anzi Chai Mangale, alongside Board Member Captain Moses Muthama and the Academy’s Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Eric Katana.

The unveiling of the bus marks a significant milestone in the Academy’s continuous efforts to improve student welfare and operational efficiency, reinforcing its commitment to excellence in Maritime education and training.

Speaking during the launch, Eng. Lung’anzi described the commissioning of the bus as a powerful symbol of progress, unity, and the shared commitment we hold toward excellence in maritime education and training.

He emphasized that the bus primarily serves the students, calling it an investment in their growth, safety, and mobility. He further urged students and staff to use the bus responsibly, protect it, and take pride in representing the institution positively wherever they go.

Captain Muthama, in his remarks, expressed his delight at the acquisition of the bus, noting that for many years, students faced challenges in transportation particularly during career-related activities and educational visits outside the Academy. He lauded the move as a corrective and strategic effort by the Board of Directors aimed at improving learning experiences and supporting the Academy’s broader development agenda.

On his part, Dr. Katana commended the Board for its continued support and strategic leadership, noting that the bus will greatly enhance the Academy’s ability to facilitate student field visits, community engagements, and participation in co-curricular activities.

“This investment aligns with our mission to provide holistic maritime education that prepares our trainees not just for the classroom, but for the dynamic realities of the maritime and blue economy sectors,” Dr. Katana said.

Representing the student body, Bandari Maritime Academy Students Association (BMASA) Chairman, Vincent Kagechu, thanked the Board and Management for their unwavering commitment to student welfare. He expressed optimism that the new bus would make mobility easier and strengthen the Academy’s sense of unity and pride among students.

The event concluded with a symbolic ribbon-cutting and inaugural drive around the Academy, marking the beginning of a new chapter in Bandari Maritime Academy’s journey toward growth, innovation, and service excellence.
