Bandari Maritime Academy (BMA) continues to chart new waters in global maritime education after officially welcoming its cadets to the 2025 Global Onboard Training Program during a colorful ceremony held in South Korea on 16th October 2025.

The ceremony brought together distinguished guests, including Kenya’s Ambassador to South Korea, Prof. Emmy Jerono, and renowned Maritime scholar Prof. Elder Bang, who joined the in celebrating this milestone for Kenyan Maritime training.
The event marked the beginning of an exciting journey for the cadets, who will now embark on intensive hands-on maritime training aboard international vessels, gaining real-world exposure to the dynamic global shipping industry. The Global Onboard Training Program, a collaboration between Bandari Maritime Academy and International Maritime partners, is designed to bridge classroom knowledge with practical experience, shaping well-rounded professionals ready to navigate the evolving demands of the blue economy.

Ambassador Prof. Jerono commended the Academy for its role in nurturing globally competitive seafarers, emphasizing that such programs strengthen Kenya’s presence in the global Maritime arena.
Prof. Elder Bang echoed similar sentiments, noting that the collaboration reflects the shared vision of developing competent Maritime professionals equipped for international standards.
Cadets expressed their excitement and gratitude for the opportunity to participate in the program, describing it as a dream come true and a critical step toward building their Maritime careers.
The Academy’s leadership reaffirmed its commitment to expanding global partnerships that enhance skills development and employment opportunities for Kenyan seafarers.
