Bandari Maritime Academy (BMA) is in advanced discussions to formalize a strategic partnership with key Maritime institutions in Africa, as part of its ongoing efforts to enhance collaboration, knowledge exchange, and capacity building within the Maritime and Blue Economy sector.

An MoU between Bandari Maritime Academy, Mombasa, Kenya, and the Regional Maritime University (RMU), Accra, Ghana is in the final stages of preparation and is expected to be signed soon. This partnership will focus on strengthening academic cooperation, research, and technical training in Maritime education to meet the growing demands of the regional and global Maritime industry.
During the ongoing Africa Maritime Conference in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, BMA Chief Executive Officer Dr. Eric Katana held bilateral discussions with Dar es Salaam Maritime Institute (DMI), Associated Professor in the Department of Maritime Transport Prof. Tumaini Gurumo, and Regional Maritime University (RMU), Acting Vice Chancellor Dr. Jethro W. Broooks, Jr.

The discussions centered on regional collaboration in Maritime training, standardization of curriculum, research partnerships, and student and faculty exchange programs all aimed at strengthening Africa’s collective capacity to harness opportunities in the Blue Economy.

Dr. Katana reaffirmed BMA’s commitment to building strong linkages with regional and international partners, emphasizing that such collaborations are essential to positioning Africa as a global leader in maritime excellence and sustainable ocean development.
Dr. Katana is accompanied by BMA Deputy Director Maritime Education and Training Chief Engineer Titus Kilonzi.
