Bandari Maritime Academy (BMA) CEO, Dr. Eric Katana, paid a courtesy call to the Kenyan Embassy in Seoul, South Korea, where he was warmly received by Kenya’s Ambassador to South Korea, Prof. Emmy Jerono Kipsoi.
The high-level meeting focused on strengthening Kenya–Korea collaboration in Maritime education and training.

During the meeting, Dr. Katana briefed Ambassador Prof. Kipsoi on the progress of the training vessel donated to Bandari Maritime Academy, which is set to significantly enhance seaboard training opportunities for Kenyan cadets and Maritime students. This vessel will play a pivotal role in equipping learners with hands-on experience and preparing them for the global shipping industry.
The discussions also explored opportunities for collaboration with leading Korean Maritime institutions to promote skills exchange and knowledge transfer. Both parties identified potential areas of cooperation in research, innovation, and capacity building within the Maritime and Blue Economy sector.

Additionally, they discussed strategies for resource mobilization, with a focus on attracting investment and development support to strengthen Kenya’s Maritime training infrastructure and technological capacity.
Dr. Katana was accompanied by BMA Deputy Director for Maritime Education and Training, Chief Engineer Titus Kilonzi, underscoring BMA’s commitment to strengthening partnerships that will benefit Kenya’s maritime sector and prepare graduates for the global shipping industry.
