In addition to its core mandate of producing competent Maritime professionals to drive a sustainable Blue Economy, Bandari Maritime Academy, under the leadership of CEO Dr. Eric Katana, is also committed to nurturing leadership skills among its students and cadets.

This commitment was evident today as students participated in the Bandari Maritime Academy Students Association (BMASA) Council Elections held at the Academy. The exercise followed a period of vigorous yet peaceful campaigns, with various candidates vying for different positions within the BMASA Council.

The elections were conducted in compliance with IEBC rules and regulations, with Mombasa County IEBC Officer, Masha Sudi, presiding over the voting process. The Academy Registrar, Dr. Irene Mugo and Deputy Director, Maritime Transport and Logistics Training Enock Okemwa who is also the BMA Chairperson – Electoral Coordination Committee, spearheaded the electoral process, offering guidance and support to students, cadets, candidates, and staff involved.

Positions contested included: Chairperson/President, Vice Chairperson/Vice President, Academy Secretary and Sports and Entertainment Representative.

The positions of Secretary General and Treasurer were uncontested, with Edwin Kiogora and Aduzahir Masoud assuming the roles respectively.
