Bandari Maritime Academy (BMA) Board Member, Mr. Joab Tumbo, accompanied by BMA Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Eric Katana, has received a Letter of Intent for Cooperation from Fujian Ocean Vocational and Technical School in China.
The proposed cooperation seeks to establish a platform for the exchange of knowledge, expertise, technology and best practices in maritime education and training.
The partnership is expected to create opportunities for joint capacity-building programmes, technical exchanges, curriculum development and other initiatives aimed at enhancing the quality and relevance of maritime training.
The engagement signifies the importance of international partnerships in equipping maritime trainees and staff with the competencies required to meet the evolving demands of the global maritime industry.
Collaboration with international maritime institutions will further expose BMA trainees and staff to international standards, emerging technologies and innovative approaches in maritime education.
The initiative comes at a strategic time as Kenya seeks to maximize the potential of the Blue Economy through a skilled and competent workforce.
By strengthening international partnerships, Bandari Maritime Academy is positioning itself to play a greater role in advancing Kenya’s maritime sector, supporting skills development and contributing to sustainable economic development in Kenya and the wider region.
