Trainees undertaking the STCW Basic Safety Training course at Bandari Maritime Academy (BMA) today completed their six-day training following intensive practical sessions focused on essential survival techniques and maritime safety.
The trainees, drawn from diverse professional backgrounds, including Electrical Engineering, Hospitality Management, Beauty and Cosmetics, Welding, and other fields, are now better prepared to pursue employment opportunities within the maritime sector, particularly onboard vessels such as cargo ships and cruise ships.
As part of the training, the trainees also participated in a mentorship session facilitated by the Young Seafarers Group based at Swahili Port. The session focused on essential career development skills, including CV writing, interview preparation, and how to effectively respond to interview questions.
Through practical training and industry-focused mentorship programmes, BMA continues to empower trainees with the technical skills, knowledge, and professional competencies needed to pursue opportunities in the maritime and Blue Economy sectors.
