Bandari Maritime Academy (BMA) Students’ Council has successfully concluded a four-day leadership, governance, and self-conduct induction programme held in Malindi.
The induction, conducted under the guidance of BMA Deputy Director and Registrar, Dr. Irene Mugo, and facilitated by the Afrika Tulivu Organization, was designed to equip the newly inaugurated council members with the knowledge, skills, and values needed to effectively discharge their mandate as representatives of the Academy’s cadet community.
Throughout the four-day programme, the student leaders attended sessions covering key principles of good governance, including integrity, accountability, inclusivity, responsible leadership, and respect for human rights. The sessions also emphasized ethical conduct, peaceful coexistence, effective representation, and the importance of placing the interests and welfare of fellow cadets at the heart of student leadership.
The programme provided an important platform for council members to reflect on their roles and responsibilities while strengthening their capacity to lead with professionalism, fairness and accountability.
As they begin their tenure, the BMA Students’ Council is expected to put into practice the knowledge, skills and values gained during the induction to promote effective, inclusive and responsible leadership across the Academy.
