Bandari Maritime Academy (BMA) has strengthened its outreach efforts during the 2026 Agricultural Society of Kenya (ASK) Show in Kisumu County by engaging Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions to promote maritime education and skills development.
BMA officers toured exhibition booths of Siaya National Polytechnic, Wigot School of Hospitality and Mawego National Polytechnic, where they held discussions on opportunities for collaboration in advancing maritime education and training within technical colleges.
The engagements focused on exploring how the institutions can partner with BMA to introduce maritime-related programmes, build institutional capacity and equip young people with skills required to tap into the growing opportunities within Kenya’s blue economy.
The Academy also highlighted the importance of industry-driven training in preparing graduates for careers in shipping, ports, logistics, fisheries, offshore services and the cruise ship industry, sectors that continue to create demand for skilled maritime professionals.
Through such collaborations, Bandari Maritime Academy aims to bring maritime training closer to communities across the country by working with TVET institutions to expand access to quality maritime education.
The initiative underscores the Academy’s commitment to developing a competent workforce that will drive the growth and sustainability of Kenya’s blue economy.
