The Cabinet Secretary for Mining, Blue Economy, and Maritime Affairs, Hon. Hassan Joho, has appointed four distinguished professionals to serve on the Board of Bandari Maritime Academy (BMA). The new board members are Dr. Fridah Simba, Joab Tumbo, Steve Biko Luseno, and Ahmed Abdirahman Elyass.

The appointments mark a significant step in strengthening the governance and strategic direction of the Academy, which is recognized as Kenya’s Center of Excellence in Shipping, Maritime, and Blue Economy education and training.
The new board members bring a wealth of experience and diverse expertise spanning academia, maritime operations, policy, and international relations.

Their leadership will be instrumental in guiding BMA’s mission of producing highly skilled maritime professionals and advancing Kenya’s competitiveness in the global maritime and blue economy space.
The Academy community led by CEO Dr. Eric Katana has warmly welcomed the new board members, expressing confidence that their vision and stewardship will propel BMA to greater heights of excellence and innovation.
