Marine Spills Pollution Response Exercise Field Training

Marine Spills Pollution Response Exercise (MASEPOLREX25) Field Training Exercise, is currently underway at Bandari Maritime Academy (BMA) in Mombasa, bringing together a distinguished gathering of experts, practitioners, and policymakers from around the world.

Speaking on behalf of the Academy’s CEO, Dr. Eric Katana, the Deputy Director of Maritime Transport and Logistics Training, Enock Okemwa, expressed BMA’s pride in hosting such a high-level training event.

He emphasized that the exercise underscores a shared commitment to the sustainable management of Marine environments and the enhancement of both regional and global preparedness in responding to oil spill incidents.

The training is organized by Kenya Maritime Authority in partnership with Indian Ocean Commission under the Safe Seas Africa project, with support from the European Union, the UN Environment programme and Nairobi Convention.

As a premier maritime training institution in the region, BMA remains committed to developing highly skilled maritime professionals and supporting the implementation of international maritime conventions and best practices through robust capacity-building initiatives.
