Wundanyi MP Visits Bandari Maritime Academy, Pledges Support for Youth Training in Blue Economy

Bandari Maritime Academy (BMA) Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Eric Katana, today hosted Wundanyi Member of Parliament, Hon. Danson Mwashako, who paid a courtesy call to his office at the Academy in Mombasa.

The meeting centered on strengthening collaboration in Maritime education and training, with a particular focus on expanding opportunities for young people from Taita Taveta County to benefit from the growing Blue Economy sector.

Hon. Mwashako lauded the Academy for its role as a national center of excellence in Maritime and shipping training. He emphasized the importance of equipping Kenyan youth with skills that can unlock both local and international Maritime careers, describing the Academy as a key driver of Kenya’s future workforce development.

Dr. Katana who was accompanied by BMA’s Assistant Director, Supply Chain Management, Samson Chira led Hon. Mwashako on a tour of the Academy’s state-of-the-art training facilities. The tour also included the site of the upcoming Maritime Survival Training and Certification Centre, a flagship project expected to position BMA as a regional hub for specialized Maritime safety training.

Impressed by the Academy’s vision, Hon. Mwashako pledged his support for initiatives that would enable students from his constituency and other regions to access world-class training opportunities at BMA.
