More than 20 staff members from the Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) are currently undertaking specialized Gantry Crane training at Bandari Maritime Academy (BMA), in a move aimed at strengthening operational efficiency and enhancing safety standards within port operations.

The training programme focuses on equipping participants with critical knowledge and hands-on skills in gantry crane operations, safety procedures, equipment handling, and adherence to international port and maritime safety standards. It targets port equipment operators and technical personnel who play a key role in cargo handling and port productivity.
As part of the programme, the first cohort of trainees was taken on a practical port tour led by BMA Port Equipment Trainer, Loth Komora. The tour provided real-world exposure to port operations, enabling trainees to link classroom instruction with on-site operational practices and safety requirements.

The initiative highlights the continued collaboration between Bandari Maritime Academy and the Kenya Ports Authority in developing a competent, safety-conscious, and skilled port workforce to support the growth and competitiveness of Kenya’s maritime and logistics sector.
