Government Spokesman Isaac Mwaura Visits Bandari Maritime Academy, Records ‘SEMA NA SPOX’ Segment

The Government Spokesman of Kenya Hon. Isaac Mwaura, today paid an official visit to Bandari Maritime Academy, where he was hosted by BMA Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Eric Katana.

Upon arrival, Hon. Mwaura inspected a ceremonial guard of honour mounted by trainees of the Academy, highlighting the institution’s discipline and commitment to professional maritime training. The visit also included a comprehensive tour of the Academy’s training facilities, where the Government Spokesman Isaac Mwaura was briefed on the institution’s programs, modern equipment, and its role in preparing skilled manpower for Kenya’s maritime sector.

During the visit, Dr. Katana emphasized the Academy’s mandate to equip Kenyan youth with internationally recognized maritime skills, noting that the institution continues to play a critical role in supporting the growth of the blue economy and expanding employment opportunities in the maritime industry.

Hon. Mwaura commended the Academy for its contribution to capacity building within Kenya’s maritime sector and reiterated the government’s commitment to supporting institutions that strengthen skills development and national economic growth.

A key highlight of the visit was the successful recording of an episode of “SEMA NA SPOX: BONGA NA GAVA,” a public engagement program hosted by the Government Spokesman. The episode, recorded at the Academy, will be aired on Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC TV) and is expected to showcase the Academy’s role in maritime training while promoting dialogue between the government and the public.
