In a first of its kind in the country, Bandari Maritime Academy has acquired a state-of-the-art
Modular Data Center to support and enhance advanced learning in the institution. The Huawei
FusionModule800 is a next-generation data center solution that is smart and compact, integrating
Power Distribution Unit (PDU), Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS), monitoring, cooling, and
rack systems into a converged rack to save space.
Speaking during the data center commissioning, the Chairman – BMA board of directors, who
was flanked by other board members, staff and students pointed out that technology was at the
heart of modern-day learning and BMA would benefit greatly from this investment. He re-
iterated the board’s commitment towards modernization of the Academy’s learning resources,
noting that the data center would play a critical role in adoption of technology-based learning
approach at the institution.
The board members were briefed on the deployment and operation of the data center by the
institution’s ICT officers who pointed out that the data center would form the core of the
Academy’s ICT infrastructure and play a critical role towards achievement of the Academy’s
goals. On their part, the students expressed joy and appreciation at the institution’s drive to
enhance their learning experience and proper preparation towards the technology-driven job
market.
