Bandari Maritime Academy (BMA) is extending its footprint across the country, reaching thousands of young people with opportunities for Maritime education and training.

This commitment was demonstrated during the graduation and certificate award ceremony for 23 trainees from the Baringo–Elgeyo Marakwet border and Cheploch Gorge, who successfully completed the Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping (STCW) course at BMA in Mombasa.
BMA Chief Executive Officer Dr. Eric Katana reaffirmed the academy’s mission to develop a competent Maritime workforce for sustainable development, noting that this was the first largest cohort of STCW graduates from outside the Coast region.

Charlene Ruto, through the Charlene Ruto Foundation, congratulated the newly certified divers and urged more young people to embrace Maritime and Blue Economy education to enhance their employability in the Maritime, Shipping and Blue Economy sectors.
The ceremony took place during the International Youth Week 2025 celebrations at Central Primary Grounds in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County.
