BMA Equips 17 Trainees with Internationally Recognized STCW Safety Skills

Seventeen trainees have successfully completed the Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW) Basic Safety Training at Bandari Maritime Academy, enhancing their readiness for careers in the maritime and blue economy sectors.

The training equipped the participants with essential safety competencies required for service at sea, including personal survival techniques, fire prevention and firefighting, elementary first aid, and personal safety and social responsibilities. Through practical exercises, the trainees gained hands-on experience in responding to emergencies and maintaining safety in maritime environments.

Drawn from diverse educational and professional backgrounds, the trainees were united by a common ambition to pursue opportunities within Kenya’s growing blue economy and the global shipping industry.

The successful completion of the internationally recognized STCW training marks a significant milestone in their maritime journey, providing them with the foundational skills and certification required for entry into various seafaring and maritime-related careers.
