Bandari Maritime Academy welcomes May 2026 Intake, urges discipline and excellence among new cadets

Bandari Maritime Academy (BMA) has welcomed students admitted for the May 2026 intake to pursue courses in Nautical Science, Marine Engineering, and Maritime Transport and Logistics at Levels 5 and 6.

The orientation programme introduced students to the academy’s leadership, academic programmes, rules and regulations, and student support services to help them settle into the institution.

Speaking on behalf of the Academy’s CEO, Dr. Eric Katana, Deputy Director of Corporate Services, CPA Evans Oyieyo, congratulated the students for securing admission amid stiff competition, noting that the academy received over 500 applications from across the country.

“You earned this opportunity through your outstanding qualifications,” said CPA Oyieyo.

He urged the students to remain focused, disciplined, and committed to their studies while upholding the academy’s reputation through professionalism and good conduct.

Deputy Director Registrar Dr. Irene Mugo encouraged the students to take their studies seriously, avoid examination irregularities, and adhere to the institution’s code of conduct. She emphasized that discipline and hard work are key to academic success and the development of skilled manpower for the blue economy sector.

Dr. Mugo also encouraged students to participate in co-curricular activities by joining clubs and associations within the institution, including football, basketball, debate, research and innovation, environmental, trade and logistics, and Counselling Psychology to help develop leadership skills and social networks.

Present during the event were Senior Deputy Director, Finance & Accounts, Moses Odero, Senior Principal Trainer in Nautical Science Major (Rtd) Franklyn Toniok, Assistant Director for Quality Assurance, Michael Njogah, and representatives from the Bandari Maritime Academy Students Association (BMASA).
