By John Ndegwa / BMA

Bandari Maritime Academy (BMA) has today achieved yet another significant milestone following the successful signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Regional Maritime University (RMU) in Accra, Ghana.

The strategic partnership aims to strengthen academic collaboration, enhance Maritime training standards, and open new pathways for student and faculty exchange between the two institutions. The MoU is also expected to support joint research initiatives, curriculum development, and capacity-building efforts that align with the evolving demands of the global Maritime and Blue Economy sectors.

BMA’s delegation to Accra was led by Director of the Board, Ahmed Elyass, who was accompanied by Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Eric Katana.

Regional Maritime University Acting Vice Chancellor, Prof. Jethro W. Brooks Jr., signed the MOU on behalf of RMU and highlighted the importance of regional cooperation in strengthening Africa’s Maritime competencies and improving the quality of seafarer training across the continent.

Also present from BMA were Corporate Secretary and Head of legal services Saidi Gongo and Office Administrator Fatima Shemni.

The new partnership underscores Bandari Maritime Academy’s continuous efforts to expand its global footprint and foster high-level collaborations that benefit students, industry stakeholders, and the broader Blue Economy ecosystem.
