Bandari Maritime Academy Nautical Science Students Visit Kenya Navy for Experiential Learning Tour

By John Ndegwa / BMA

Nautical Science students from Bandari Maritime Academy (BMA), today participated in an insightful educational tour at the Kenya Navy Base in Mombasa, aimed at enhancing their practical understanding of Maritime operations and naval procedures.

During the visit, the students had a unique opportunity to interact with officers and instructors at the Kenya Naval Training College, where they explored the Bridge Simulator, a vital training facility used for navigation and ship handling exercises.

This hands-on experience provided the students with valuable exposure to real-world Maritime operations and complemented their classroom learning.

The educational engagement continued with a guided tour aboard Kenya Navy vessels, RV Mtafiti and MV Doria, where the students gained first-hand insights into the workings of naval ships, shipboard equipment, and life at sea.

The visit not only deepened the students’ appreciation of Maritime safety, navigation, and seamanship, but also strengthened the collaboration between Bandari Maritime Academy and the Kenya Navy in nurturing competent Maritime professionals for Kenya’s growing Blue Economy sector.
