Bandari Maritime Academy (BMA) Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Eric Katana, today toured the Academy’s exhibition booth at the ongoing 11th Our Ocean Conference 2026 being held at Pride Inn Paradise Beach Resort in Mombasa.

During the visit, Dr. Katana interacted with members of staff and cadets manning the booth and commended them for effectively showcasing the Academy’s role in advancing maritime education, training, research, and the Blue Economy agenda in Kenya.

The BMA booth has continued to attract delegates from across the world, providing an opportunity for the Academy to highlight its state-of-the-art maritime training facilities, including modern simulators, the Maritime Survival Training Centre, and the Aquatic Centre, which are instrumental in developing a globally competitive maritime workforce.

Dr. Katana noted that participation in the conference presents a strategic platform for the Academy to engage with international partners, exchange knowledge, and showcase Kenya’s growing capacity in maritime education and training.

“The Our Ocean Conference brings together key stakeholders committed to sustainable ocean management and the Blue Economy. As a leading maritime training institution, Bandari Maritime Academy is proud to be part of these global conversations and to demonstrate the critical role of maritime education in shaping the future of our oceans,” said Dr. Katana.

The Academy’s participation in the conference underscores its commitment to supporting sustainable ocean governance, marine conservation, climate resilience, and the development of skilled human capital for the maritime sector.

The 11th Our Ocean Conference has brought together world leaders, policymakers, researchers, youth, and industry players to discuss innovative solutions for protecting oceans while unlocking opportunities within the Blue Economy.
