BMA Plants 11,000 Trees on Mazingira Day in Tana River County

Bandari Maritime Academy (BMA) has planted 11,000 trees at the National Youth Service (NYS) Camp in Tana River County to mark Mazingira Day.

The Acting Deputy Director, Maritime Transport and Operations Training, Mr Enock Okemwa, led the exercise while representing BMA Chief Executive Officer Dr Eric Katana. Members of the BMA Students Council and cadets also participated in the tree-planting exercise.

The initiative supports the Presidential target of planting 15 billion trees by 2030 to increase forest cover, restore degraded landscapes and combat climate change.

The exercise reflects BMA’s commitment to environmental conservation and sustainability, contributing to national efforts to create a greener and healthier environment.

Observed annually on October 10, Mazingira Day promotes environmental conservation and encourages Kenyans to take collective action towards a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable environment.
