Thousands of skilled professionals and young people in Baringo County have expressed interest in pursuing maritime education and training as they seek to enhance their employability and tap into emerging opportunities in the Maritime and Blue Economy sector.

The commitment follows a sensitization session conducted by officials from Bandari Maritime Academy (BMA) as part of an ongoing marketing and sensitization campaign aimed at creating awareness of maritime education, training and career opportunities among young people across the Rift Valley region.
BMA team, led by Senior Business Development and Marketing Officer Fatma Mzee and Customer Relations Officer Getrude Chao, visited Mogotio Vocational Training Centre, where they engaged trainees undertaking various technical and vocational courses.
The officials enlightened the trainees on the diverse opportunities available within the maritime industry, including maritime education and training pathways, seafaring careers, technical skills, logistics, port operations and other opportunities within the wider Blue Economy.

Mogotio Vocational Training Centre Manager George Tanui welcomed the BMA initiative, describing the sensitization session as an eye-opener for young people in Baringo County.
The Academy is also urging skilled youth and vocational trainees to consider acquiring specialized maritime competencies that can position them for opportunities locally and internationally.
