Bandari Maritime Academy (BMA) has led the validation of the Coxswain Grade III Curriculum during a stakeholders’ forum organised by the Maritime Organisation for Eastern, Southern and Northern Africa (MOESNA) at Sarova Whitesands Hotel in Mombasa.
MOESNA tasked BMA with developing the curriculum following a Situational Analysis and Training Needs Assessment that identified disparities in training standards, certification procedures, safety compliance, and occupational competencies across the region.
The forum, which was attended by MOESNA representatives and key maritime industry stakeholders, provided an opportunity to review and validate the Developing a Curriculum (DACUM) chart, occupational standards, and the proposed curriculum.The exercise is seeking to harmonise coxswain training and certification across the region while strengthening safety standards and occupational competencies among maritime professionals.
Through this initiative, BMA continues to contribute to harmonised maritime training standards and a skilled, competent maritime workforce in the region.
