Bandari Maritime Academy (BMA) has officially welcomed a new cohort of 30 forklift operator trainees following an orientation session led by Senior Port Equipment Trainer Loth Komora Warera on behalf of the Academy’s Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Eric Katana.
The orientation marked the beginning of the one-month training programme, which is designed to equip participants with the knowledge, technical skills, and practical experience required to operate forklifts safely and efficiently in port, logistics, and industrial environments.
Addressing the trainees, Mr. Komora emphasized the importance of discipline, professionalism, and commitment throughout the programme, noting that these values are essential for success both during training and in the workplace.
“I encourage you to make the most of this learning opportunity by maintaining high standards of conduct and actively participating in both the classroom and practical sessions,” he said.
He urged the trainees to approach the programme with dedication and passion so they can fully benefit from Bandari Maritime Academy’s state-of-the-art training facilities.
Mr. Komora also briefed the trainees on the Academy’s rules and regulations, stressing that adherence to occupational safety requirements is mandatory throughout the training. He reminded them to obtain and wear the required personal protective equipment (PPE), including reflective vests, hand gloves, and protective headgear, during practical lessons.
“Wearing school uniforms is mandatory. The reflective vests are your uniforms.” Mr. Komora said.
The programme combines intensive theoretical instruction with hands-on practical training to develop competent, safety-conscious forklift operators who meet industry standards.
