Bandari Maritime Academy Hosts Maersk Delegation to Strengthen Maritime Training Partnerships

Bandari Maritime Academy today hosted a delegation from Maersk in a move aimed at strengthening partnerships and collaboration within the maritime sector.

On behalf of the Academy’s Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Eric Katana, the meeting was hosted by Senior Deputy Director for Maritime Transport and Port Operations Training, Enock Okemwa. The Maersk delegation included East Africa Terminal Planning Manager Albert Alfy and People Partner for the East Africa Area Linda Karanja.

Discussions between the two institutions focused on strengthening strategic partnerships, enhancing collaboration in maritime training, and exploring opportunities for the placement and rotation of cadets seeking sea-time experience, an essential requirement for professional certification in the maritime industry. The engagement also explored ways of aligning industry needs with maritime education and training to ensure graduates are equipped with practical skills and global industry exposure. Also present during the meeting were Senior Career Services Officer Samuel Dube and Senior Resource Mobilization and Partnerships Officer Fatma Mzee from Bandari Maritime Academy.
