Bandari Maritime Academy is a Qualification Awarding Institution (QAI) duly registered to train Maritime related courses. The Academy is committed to providing Competent Maritime Human Resource for Sustainable Blue Economy, in order to cope with the global dynamic Maritime trends. BMA is strategically located at the heart of Mombasa City, a convenient and accessible location for all students from different parts of the country and the region at large. We are located at the shores of the Indian ocean in Mombasa Island.

The Academy offers Level V and Level VI courses from Maritime Education Training Department and Maritime Transport and Logistics departments. With more than 800 regular students , the Academy trains over 5,000 trainees in diverse areas each year. We offer a wide range of programmes with access to notable training facilities such as amphitheatre, library, engineering workshops, firefighting centre, simulators and aquatic centre. We run three semesters in a calendar year enabling one, to plan their study program without fear or worry of disruption.

The Academy provides education and training programs that lead to the award of Diplomas and Certificates (KNQF Level 6 and KNQF Level 5 ), related to the vast international maritime and shore-side industries amongst other qualifications aimed at supporting the training needs of Government Agencies in the field of Marine Engineering, Nautical Science and Maritime Transport & Logistics. The Academy is working at expanding its education/ training services and expertise beyond the region.

All our programs emphasize on classroom learning, combined with practical experience, applied technology, leadership development, and global awareness. The critical connection between classroom instruction and real-world practices is further developed by internships with shoreside companies, government agencies, or aboard commercial vessels. These experiences, along with the many other hands-on learning components, often lead to successful and lucrative career pathways for our graduates.

The Academy also tailor make courses for corporate trainings based on the organization’s needs. These courses can be delivered at the Academy, out of the Academy or inhouse when deemed necessary.

Quality training and learning resources are available for our cadets both in soft and in hard copies from our library. We encourage total commitment from our full-part time faculty members and staff who are qualified in their respective areas of specialization, as we work towards becoming a World Class Centre for Maritime Education and Training.
